LunÀtico warmly welcomes the return of the iconic saxophonist, Joel Frahm!

Joel Frahm - tenor saxophone
Dan Loomis - bass
Ernesto Cervini - drums

Joel Frahm is known to all jazz-lovers as a modern icon of the tenor saxophone. An unsurpassed emotional projection and technical ability always characterize his playing which draws on the breadth the American musical tradition including jazz, funk, rock and blues. "Joel Frahm is widely known in the jazz world for his effusive creativity, rollicking positive spirit, technical fluency and versatility,” says the Ottawa Citizen.

Joel's new trio is an international affair, consisting of Toronto's most prolific bandleader Ernesto Cervini (Myriad3, Turboprop) on drums and composer/bandleader/bassist Dan Loomis (of The Wee Trio, TS Monk) on bass. The Joel Frahm Trio released their latest album, “The Bright Side” (Anzic Records) in 2021 to rave reviews across the globe including a 4-star review in Downbeat Magazine and a feature on NPR’s Fresh Air.

“…a musician of world-class fluency and post-bop invention... the saxophonist’s album is vital listening. — Peter Hum, Ottawa Citizen

“Combining the influences of John Coltrane’s big-bodied sound, Michael Brecker’s full- throttled onslaught of ideas and a host of hard-blowing hard bop tenors, Frahm is consistently able to create simultaneous harmonic and melodic excitement. He’s a veritable encyclopedia of bop ideas but always uses them in fresh ways … like daisy- chains of morphing motives.” — Tom Greenland, Jazz Record

“There are a lot of fine saxophonist players of many stripes, but when I think of a tenor saxophone in the classical sense in all its soul-drenched glory, I think of the saxophone of Joel Frahm... “ — S. Victor Aaron, Something Else!
