is a new musical alliance featuring four of NYC’s finest exploring afro-cuban standards and latin-jazz classics. The instrumentation of vibes, piano, bass and percussion is reminiscent of Cal Tjader in the 1960’s or the George Shearing Quintet of the mid-1950’s that made 4 albums of Latin affairs, escapades and moods. Tonite they celebrate the release of their debut recording!

Dred Scott ~ Piano
Tom Beckham - Vibes
Moses Patrou ~ Percussion
Matt Pavolka ~ bass

DRED SCOTT’s label had referred to him as the 'maestro of mayhem' and Dred has the resume to back it up - He's played and recorded with a long list of diverse artists - Liza Minellii, Courtney Love, Anthony Braxton, Pete Seeger, Nina Hagen, Patti Smith, Zigaboo Modeliste, Joe Henderson, Joe Morello, Andrew Cyrille, Moby and Ricki Lee Jones. He's produced 10 records of his own (5 for Ropeadope) and his trio played the Rockwood Music Hall every Tuesday night at midnight for nearly a decade.  Dred was the house pianist for Del Posto for 8 years and now the house pianist and music director for the private Shaun Hergatt restaurant in 432 Park. This new project marks the return of Dred to the clubs.

Vibraphonist TOM BECKHAM has released 4 CD’s to date as a leader: Suspicions (Fresh Sound New Talent, 1999) Center Songs, Rebound and a duo album with guitarist Brad Shepik entitled Flower Starter. He also performs on solo vibraphone and is a Vic Firth artist.

MOSES PATROU has a unique style and set up for playing congas and percussion drawing from all of the unique feels and ‘swings’ of the US, Caribbean and South America. Patrou began playing percussion at a young age, eventually studying and performing abroad with top percussionists in Salvador, Brazil; Havana, Cuba, and New Orleans, before arriving to NYC in 2001 at age 24.  Patrou has performed on stages and festivals around the globe and continues to make music on the NY scene.

Bassist MATT PAVOLKA has been a fixture of the New York jazz and creative music scenes for over a quarter of a century now.  He has performed, recorded, and toured with Lee Konitz, Guillermo Klein, Ben Monder, Alan Ferber, and many others.  He is also known as a composer and bandleader in his own right.
