Saul Rubin, guitar
Arthur Kell, bass
Dennis Bulhões, drums

SPIRITS REBELLIOUS was founded by Thomas Chapin, a prominent figure on the "downtown" NYC music scene in the late 1980’s. This overlooked period of Chapin’s music serves as a counterpoint to his legendary avant-garde trio as it explores Brazilian/Afro Cuban rhythms the written during his extensive travels throughout South America. It is heavily influenced by Chapin’s hero-inspirer, Hermeto Pascoal.

Original Spirits Rebellious members, Arthur Kell and Saul Rubin have reunited to bring attention to this gorgeous playbook.. Thomas Chapin’s story is the subject of the critically acclaimed 2016 film documentary, "Night Bird Song."
